Police officer injured in stone-pelting incident in Budgam

BUDGAM — A top cop sustained injuries after a group of youth pelted stones on the vehicle he was travelling in central Kashmir’s Budgam village.

Police sources said that a police party led by DSP Headquarters was on a routine patrol in different parts of Budgam when it came under attack in Nasrullah Pora village.

Sources added that unknown youth pelted stones on the police party, resulting in the injuries to the officer. He was shifted to nearest hospital for treatment.

Sources said that police fired some tear-smoke shells to disperse the youth.

Pertinently, after the killing of Hizb Commander Riyaz Naikoo, authorities as a precautionary measure suspended mobile internet services and calling facility. Clashes erupted at many places against the killing of Naikoo.

A police official confirmed that a top cop received injuries in a stone-pelting incident in Budgam village. He added that those responsible for the act will be booked under law.
