Pre-dawn gunfight breaks out in Budgam village

SRINAGAR — A pre-dawn gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Bugam area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Army’s 53RR and SOG Budgam launched a cordon and search operation in Bugam area.

A senior police officer said that it was a specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.

The officer further said that as the joint team of forces encircled the hiding spot, the militants there fired upon the forces, triggering an encounter.

As per the forces, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Till this report was being filed, intermittent firing was going on.
