Preparing for hoisting Pakistani flag, three OGWs arrested: Police

SRINAGAR — Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Taiba militant outfit.

While providing details, SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said, “On 06/09/2020, Police Station Hajin received information from reliable sources that some miscreants at the behest of local active militants of LeT have hoisted Pakistani flags at main Bazar Hajin with a view to create fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings among the common people of Hajin town.”

Further to these details, Bandipora Police issued a statement in which it said, “To this effect, FIR No. 35/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation initiated.”

“During the course of the investigation, three persons namely Mujeeb Shamas, Tanveer Ahmad Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh, all residents of Mir Mohalla Hajin were arrested who admitted their involvement in the crime. 01 hand grenade, cloth, sewing machine and other incriminating material used in preparing the flags was also recovered from them. Further investigation of the case is going on,” the statement added.
