Retired police officer brutally attacked with axe in Budgam

SRINAGAR — A retired Sub-inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police received all but 11 stitches after being hit with an axe by a person in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.

Reliable sources told the news agency KDC that a retired Sub-inspector identified as Assadullah Bhat son of Gulam Muhammad Bhat, resident of Madbal Chadoora was hit by an axe by another resident of Chadoora village, identified as Momin Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar.

Bhat was immediately shifted to SDH Chadoora where he received 11 stitches on his hand and his condition is said to be ‘stable’, they said adding, that the prima facie of the incident was to snatch money from the injured person.

A police officer confirmed the incident and said the incident had happened yesterday (Thursday) and a case has already been registered in Police Station Chadoora, while the accused has been arrested and investigation of the case is going on.
