Shopian gunfight rages on as four Al-Badr militants killed

SRINAGAR — Four Al-Badr militants have been killed while one caught alive during the ongoing encounter between militants and government forces in Kiloora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that top commander of Al-Badr among four militants were killed in the encounter in Kiloora area.

IGP further said that among the slain militants, district commander Shakoor Parray and Suhail Bhat had abducted and killed the Khonmoh Panch whose body was recovered earlier in the day.

Sources further said that during the forces’ action, one militant was caught alive.

Pertinently, a joint team of Police, Army’s 44RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Kiloora.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
