PULWAMA — As soon as the news of the encounter in Pulwama spread to the nearby areas, the shopkeepers in Pulwama town and the Kakapora township downed their shutters, and observed a complete shutdown in the wake of the killing of three militants in Kakapora area of Pulwama district on Friday morning.

Locals said that intense clashes took place around the encounter site and several people were injured during clashes. Reports suggested that eleven people including a retired teacher were injured during the clashes.

Two residential houses were damaged during the encounter. “Shops, other business establishments are shut in Pulwama to mourn the killing of three militants,” a local said.

Mobile internet was suspended in Pulwama district as a precautionary measure by the security agencies.
