SRINAGAR — A civilian and six Indian Air Force personnel were killed after a Mi-17 chopper crashed near Garend Kalan village in central Kashmir’s Budgam this morning, reported The Indian Express.

The MI-17 chopper crashed around 10:40 AM in Garend village, seven kilometres from Budgam town.

The civilian killed in the crash was identified as Kifayat Hussain Ganie (20), a local resident who was basking in the sun when the chopper crashed onto him in a brick kiln.

Reports quoting officials said that two pilots were also killed in the crash. However, four more charred bodies were later recovered from the wreckage.

The slain were Indian Air Force personnel, Indian Express reported. However, there was no immediate official confirmation.
