Shopian: Unidentified gunmen kidnapped three civilians from a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday, barely 36 hours after the killing of a civilian following his abduction in the district.
A police official said that unknown gunmen on Saturday morning abducted three civilians from Saidpora Payeen village of the district.
The official identified the abductees as Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of Saidpora Payeen and Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam. They, according to the official, were abducted from a bakery.
Late during the day, Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of Saidpora Payeen were released by the abductors. Reports said that both Shahid and Farooq arrived at their respective houses safely.
Sources added that unidentified gunmen abducted two more youth from Meemandar area of Shopian village, however, officials refuted these reports saying no such abductions took place in Meemandar village.
Reports said that Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam Shopian is still in the custody of abductors. His family made a vehement appeal to suspected militants requesting them to release him without harming him. “If he has done something wrong, we tender apology on his behalf,” said a relative of Huzaif Kutay.
When this report was being filed, the body of Huzaid was found in an orchard. Police team visited the spot and took possession of the body.
Pertinently, Nadeem Manzoor of Safnagri village of the district was shot dead following his abduction on Thursday night. His bullet riddled body was recovered from adjoining Pulwama district. Militants could be seen pumping a volley of bullets into his body as the video of his killing is already viral on social media.
