PAMPORE — Officials of the J&K Wildlife Department including casual labourers during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday succeeded in capturing the third leopard in Khrew area, which falls in Pampore Tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Prior to this, last week two leopards were captured by Wildlife Department range Khrew at Munpora Wuyan area of Pampore.

Wildlife Warden, Altaf Hussain said, “Trained experts of Wildlife Department succeeded in capturing third leopard that had created panic in the area.” He added that the third leopard was captured from the same spot where two leopards were caught within a week’s time.

Altaf Hussain also mentioned that nocturnal camps were installed wherever they thought necessary in view of any wild animal sightings. “Wildlife team launched a search operation and laid a trap in the Wuyan area after local residents complained that leopards were roaming in the residential areas, making human and life of livestock,” he added.

Meanwhile, the efforts of the Wildlife officials have been widely hailed by the locals as it has ended the panic and fear among the common masses.
