
SRINAGAR — A youth from south Kashmir has picked up arms and posed with an AK-47 rifle to announce joining militant ranks.
Asif Ahmad Ganie of Chitragam village in Shopian had gone missing couple of days back, sources said.
The family has started looking for Asif everywhere after he went missing.
Today, his photo surfaced on social media in which he is seen brandishing an AK-47 rifle, with a message that he has joined the militant outfit, Al-Badr on July 25, 2020.
A police official said that they are ascertaining the authenticity of the photograph.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar had said that south Kashmir will be freed from militancy and focus will shift towards the north. However, reports of missing youth are continuously emerging from south Kashmir.
