SRINAGAR — Awami National Conference on Friday said that granting of domicile certificate to non-locals will open the gates for outsiders in Jammu and Kashmir and it will change the demographic nature of the erstwhile state.
Party General Secretary, Mir Muhammad Shafi in a statement said that granting of domicile certificates to outsiders is unacceptable. He said everything is being done without the approval of Legislative Assembly and without taking people on board.
“Constitutional guarantees are being violated. Laws are being implemented to hurt the local sentiments,” he said, adding that people of Jammu and Kashmir will never accept one-sided laws.
Mir opposed the domicile rules, saying they will not only deprive the youth of the local jobs but also pave the way for outsiders to take over the land.
“With domicile rules, Government of India has made it easy for outsiders to settle down in J&K. In no other state of India, getting a domicile is so easy. Where will our youth and people go?” he questioned.
