SRINAGAR — National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has made a surprising U-turn by deciding to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from two constituencies, despite earlier claiming he wouldn’t participate.
Omar Abdullah, who initially filed nomination papers from Ganderbal, has now also decided to contest from Budgam Assembly segment.
Omar Abdullah, as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust, told reporters that party leaders Aga Ruhullah and Aga Mehmood persuaded him to contest from Budgam, in addition to Ganderbal.
He clarified that this decision should not be seen as a weakness of the party, but rather a testament to the National Conference’s strength.
Omar Abdullah expressed confidence that the National Conference will emerge as a strong power in the elections.
