The authorities snapped mobile internet services across Kashmir to prevent law and order situation in the wake of an encounter at Awantipore where a top militant commander is trapped.

The Supreme Court on Monday reserved its order on a batch of petitions seeking restoration of 4G Internet services in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the 2G service available in the Union Territory is not sufficient for education and business purposes amid the ongoing coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Right to access internet is not a fundamental right and the state can curtail the freedom of speech and the right to trade through internet, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has told the Supreme Court while opposing restoration of 4G services in the union territory.
