Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasts widespread rain and thundershowers across J&K through August 19, with heavy rainfall and flash flood risk peaking August 11.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will remain suspended from both traditional routes with effect from August 9, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg said on Saturday.

Rain and thundershowers are likely to affect many parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 12 hours, with the Jammu region expected to witness the maximum impact.

Parts of J&K are expected to witness thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds beginning Friday afternoon, with the Kashmir region likely to see the most activity.

After the season’s first major widespread snowfall, Jammu and Kashmir is set to witness another spell of rain and snow from Monday evening, the MeT said.

Severe cold conditions continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as minimum temperatures dipped well below freezing point at most places in the Kashmir Valley.
