SRINAGAR — In a move to facilitate essential road widening measures, authorities declared on Monday that the pivotal Srinagar-Jammu national highway, serving as the sole lifeline connecting the valley to the outside world, will be temporarily closed for 24 hours.
According to a statement released by the deputy commissioner of Ramban, as reported by a local news agency, the traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar NH-44 will come to a standstill starting from 8 am on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, until 8 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
The closure, undertaken in adherence to safety protocols, is imperative for road widening activities at Kishtwari Pathar & Dhalwas.
The deputy commissioner emphasized the significance of prioritizing safety during this period, urging individuals to refrain from travelling during the specified hours.
