Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said that the much talked peace cannot be created in a vacuum.

“At Eidgah after 8 yrs, Peace cannot be created in a vacuum, #Kashmir a political dispute not a law & order issue no military solution possible, AFSPA and black laws need to go, GOI needs to revisit the #Vajpayee policy, engagement among three stakeholders the assured way to move forward,” Mirwaiz tweeted.

Earlier, Mirwaiz Umar addressed people at Eidgah Srinagar during Eid prayers.

He said, “On the occasion of Eid, we remember the martyrs of Kashmir and those who are imprisoned. We present our tribute to them.”

“The people of Jammu & Kashmir are celebrating Eid today. We want to tell the world community that the people of Kashmir and its political leadership wants an end to oppression, human rights’ violations and bloodshed,” he said.

Mirwaiz further said that the killings will stop only when the Government of India realizes that the issue of Kashmir needs to be resolved.

“We hope that both India and Pakistan will seriously work towards the resolution of Kashmir. Kashmir needs a political solution and not a military solution,” he said.
