SHOPIAN — People’s Democratic Party president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the Centre is hiding the truth about the suppression by the BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir.

She was speaking at a function here in the southern district of Shopian where she said that the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will work to get the special status (Article 370) back. PDP President visited Pahnoo Shopian to condole the demise of PDP Zonal President Hilal Bhat’s father.

“We are living in suppression as hundreds of locals have been booked into different jails. The Central government doesn’t want anyone to know what is going on here. After the revocation of Article 370, they made Kashmir issue a difficult one,” she said.

She further said that India is not Gandhi’s India anymore, it is Godse’s India. “But one day, people will get up and get their status back,” she added.

About Hijab, she said there is a conspiracy to keep our girls away from education. “Our girls are intelligent enough and they will not let their education suffer,” she added.

Mehbooba said that no one is satisfied with the move of the Delimitation Commission. “They destroyed the mainstream here. Now, they are working to prepare the ground for BJP’s victory.”

She said new terms have been coined, like white-collar militant and hybrid militant, as the authorities have crossed all limits and no one can talk.
