SRINAGAR — The Indian Army today paid tributes to Sepoy Sanjay Kumar Bhat, who died in a road accident on February 5, 2022, near Fruit Mandi, Parimpora in Srinagar.

In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen DP Pandey, GOC Chinar Corps led all ranks in paying homage to the soldier.

Late Sepoy Sanjay Kumar Bhat was hit from behind by a truck (Registration No. JK 03J 3811) while carrying out a road opening operation on NH-1A in Parimpora. He was immediately evacuated to a Noora Hospital, Zainakote and further shifted to 92 Base Hospital. Late Sepoy Bhat, however, succumbed to his injuries.

Late Sepoy Sanjay Kumar Bhat was 43 years old and had joined the Indian Army in 2006. He belonged to village Mishriwala Camp of Jammu District and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The mortal remains of Late Sepoy Sanjay Kumar Bhat will be taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.

“In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing,” Srinagar based Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said in a statement.
