Pulwama: Goverment forces early morning on Monday launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in more than a dozen villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The Pulwama siege lasted nearly eight hours!

Reports said that Army’s 44RR, 55RR, 53RR, CRPF’s 182BN, 183BN and SOG Pulwama launched the massive search operation.

The villages under CASO included Rahmoo, Bellow, Putrigam, Mitrigam, Frasipora, Goosu, Kuchepora, Murran, Thokerpora, Shangerpora, Chak, Zaigam, Kamrazipora, Hajin and Drabgam.

During the Pulwama siege, government forces had kept a mobile medical camp ready. Local people were also seen getting medicines from the forces.

However, clashes broke out between the government forces and youth in Murran and Gusoo village of the district. Forces retaliated with teargas shells to disperse the protestors.

Meanwhile, a youth, Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Ahsan Wani of Chewa Kalan, was killed and two others suffered injuries in the government forces action at Gusoo village.

Reports said that the youth received serious injuries after a bullet hit his head during the ensuing clashes with government forces.

The injured youth was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS Srinagar hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Two more youths received pellet wounds and were hospitilized.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Security Munir Khan while commenting on the civilian killing said, “At times it becomes difficult to ascertain with whose bullet civilian causality takes place. Sometimes militants mingle with protestors and open fire.”

However, as the news of the youth’s killing spread, clashes erupted at a number of places in  the southern district.

Local sources said that clashes also erupted between government forces and youth near Police Station Pulwama. They said forces retaliated with teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.
