PULWAMA — Police have arrested two ‘dreaded’ drug peddlers in J-K’s Pulwama district and seized more than 2000 bottles of Codeine.

In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson said that Pulwama Police arrested two ‘dreaded’ drug peddlers and seized huge quantity of Codeine from their possession.

As per the details, a Police party was on an area domination patrol across Putrigam village last night, during which it spotted a suspected person who tried to skip the police checking. “With utmost professionalism, the Police party nailed down the person and on instant frisking, 20 bottles of Codeine were seized from his possession.”

The culprit was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Darzi son of Abdul Rasheed Darzi, a resident of Kharpora Murran.

On instant disclosure, the statement said, the culprit disclosed that he has obtained the said NDPS contraband from a person in Shadimarg area, namely Aijaz Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Nabi Najar, resident of Batamurran Shadimarg.

“Accordingly, Police apprehended the said person and seized 2000 bottles of Codeine from his illegal possession,” it said.

To this effect, a case FIR No. 209/2021 under section 8/21 of NDPS Act has been lodged at Police Station Rajpora and thorough investigation into the matter has been set into motion. “Further disclosures and arrests are expected in the case.”
