Pulwama: Two suspected rebels have been killed in Pulwama gunfight with the security forces at Newa area of south Kashmir today.

The police said that two bodies were recovered from the site, search operation still going on.

Two AK47 rifles have also been recovered from the encounter spot. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem.

The police said that the operation was launched after a tip off about the presence of some rebels.

Army’s 50 RR, CRPF and SOG launched cordon-and-search operation at the Malwari village.

While the cordon and search operation was going on, the rebels reportedly fired upon the forces and this triggered the encounter.

Soon after the news about the encounter spread in the area, the locals took to streets and started pelting stones on police.
