SRINAGAR — Police conducted searches at the residences of individuals linked to the banned Hurriyat and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in the Handwara subdistrict of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said the searches conducted yesterday were targeted at the residence of Ghulam Hassan Khan of Maidan Chogol, linked to the banned Hurriyat, and Abdul Ahad Lone of Wahipora, associated with the proscribed Jamaat.

“These searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations to ascertain the involvement of the individuals in activities that may threaten peace and public order,” police said.

They added, “This action underscores Handwara Police’s proactive approach to dismantling the capabilities of the terror ecosystem and preventing any disruptions to law and order in the region.”

Police said they will continue to take decisive action against any individual or organization attempting to disturb the law and order situation in the police district.
