PULWAMA — Awantipora Police have seized five heavy L&T machines and four dumpers during a crackdown on alleged illegal mining at Bathen, Patalbagh and Galander, registering three FIRs in connection with the seizures.
According to police, five heavy L&T machines were seized at Bathen, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Khrew. Four dumpers were seized from Patalbagh and Galander, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Pampore.
Police said FIR No. 84/2026 has been registered at Police Station Khrew, while FIR Nos. 93/2026 and 94/2026 have been registered at Police Station Pampore under relevant provisions of law.
Investigations into the cases are underway, police said.
The police described the operation as a major crackdown on alleged illegal mineral extraction and transportation in the area. They also claimed it was the first action of its kind locally involving the seizure of such heavy machinery and dumpers.
