SRINAGAR — Deputy Mayor Shiekh Mohammad Imran on Thursday expressed his gratitude towards Sikh community who rescued Kashmiri students, provided them free shelter and food across the country.

He said that Sikh community has proved humanity exists not only orally but they have shown it practically. Imran said that the attacks on innocent students are highly condemnable.

“Concerned state governments and investigative agencies should arrest culprits involved in harassing the students,” he said.

“Sikh community, in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, provided them not only food and shelter in Punjab but also protection,” Imran said.

He also thanked Hindu community, Muslims and other NGOs who have come forward and provided students with protection and shelter in this hour of distress.

“They have set an example that humanity comes above any religion,” Imran said, adding that all people should stop spreading hatred against each other.

He said that some communal forces are adding fuel to the situation, but humanity is above all the religions.

“The move has sent positive waves across the world. If we will help each other, it will create a peaceful atmosphere in the world,” he said.
