Tourist guide missing as boat capsizes in river Lidder

SRINAGAR — A person went missing while five others including two foreign tourists were rescued after a boat capsized in a river Lidder near Mawoora area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Reports reaching GNS said that the boat carrying six persons including two tourists and one guide, capsized after it was apparently caught in strong winds.

Soon after the incident, a joint team of SDRF, police and local volunteers managed to rescue five of them including the tourists. However, the local tourist guide namely Rouf Ahmad Dar, a resident of Yenad village, has gone missing.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jehangir also confirmed the incident. He said the search operation was immediately launched by the SDRF, police and local volunteers to trace the missing person.
