Residences of journalists raided by J-K Police in Srinagar

SRINAGAR — Four residences of journalists were raided by Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday morning in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Reliable sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the residence of Showkat Ahmad Matta son of Abdul Samad, a resident of Sheikh Hamza Colony Lal-Bazar was raided by SDPO Nehru Park along with a police team.

Matta is the Editor-in-Chief of Kashmir Narrator magazine. However, as per reports, the magazine is not being published since 2019.

They said another team raided the house of journalist Azhar Qadri son of Farooq Qadri, a resident of Abu-Bakr Colony Bemina. Qadri is said to be working for many news outlets.

They further said the residence of Abbas Shah was raided by SP East along with a police team and Hilal Mir, who was working for TRT Turkey and was earlier associated with Greater Kashmir, was also searched by the police.

A top police official told KDC that raids are being conducted with regard to the ‘Kashmir Fight’ blog case registered at Police Station Kothibagh under FIR No. 82/2020 U/S 13 of UA(P) Act r/w 506 IPC.
