Srinagar: To encourage students of Government schools to perform better than their counterparts in private schools, the School Education Department today granted Rs 50 lakh as award money to felicitate around 400 students for meritorious performance in J&K State Board of School Education exams for Class 12th and Class 10th.

The award money of Rs 15000 will be given to 99 Class 12th pass out students of Kashmir Division and Rs 10000 to 100 students of Class 10th, said an official spokesman.

Similarly, the award money of Rs 15000 will be given to 100 pass outs of Class 12th and Rs 10000 to 98 pass out students of Class 10th of Jammu Division. The award money will be given through direct benefit transfer mode.

Meanwhile, the School Education Department also granted scholarship of Rs 3.5 lakh in favour of 12 cadets of Jammu & Kashmir presently undergoing training at Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun.
