BJP Sarpanch shot dead by militants in Qazigund

SRINAGAR — Militants on Thursday morning shot dead a BJP Sarpanch at Vessu area of Qazigund in southern Kulgam district.

A police official said that militants shot dead Sarpanch identified as Sajad Khanday outside his residence in Vessu area of Kulgam district.

He was immediately rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment. However, a doctor on duty said that he was brought dead to the hospital.

Meanwhile, a police official said that security forces have cordoned off the whole area to nab the assailants.
