Burhan Wani’s associate killed in Anantnag gunfight

Srinagar: Two militants including Burhan Wani’s associate, Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Altaf Kachroo resident of Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam has been killed in Anantnag encounter.

He was listed among the top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant commanders in most wanted list released by government forces.

The other slain militant has been identified as Umar Rashid who is believed to have escaped earlier in Batamalo encounter.

A senior Police officer said that both the militants have been killed and have been identified as Altaf Kachroo and Umar Rashid, however their families have not yet come to identity them, news agency GNS reported.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted near SKAUST campus of south Kashmir’s Khudwani area of Kulgam, after news spread in the area that the associate of Burhan Wani was killed in the encounter.

Altaf is the oldest militant in the area, he was active since a decade and in 1992, his father Mehmood Allie was killed while crossing the Line of Control. (GNS)
