Clashes in Pulwama’s Kareemabad after forces launch CASO

Pulwama: Clashes broke out soon after government forces launched a cordon and search operation in Check Mohalla Kareemabad village in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Friday, official sources said.

As the government forces launched CASO in the village around 5:00 AM, scores of people came out of their houses and started protests, the sources said.

They said the villagers pelted stones on the forces, who in turn, lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them. This intensified the clashes. The clashes lasted for more than a couple of hours.

Meanwhile, government forces launched a cordon and search operation in Jablipora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The operation was going on when last reports came in.
