Srinagar, Dec 22: Dismissing the rumors of rift within the ranks of Hurriyat Conference (M), the amalgam Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Thursday, asserted that the Hurriyat was a united house.
“Some vested interests are circulating wrong stories to portray that there is a rift within the Hurriyat which is totally baseless. In political forums there can be difference of opinion but that doesn’t mean there is a rift,” Mirwaiz told KNS after chairing a 6-hour marathon executive meeting of the Hurriyat here.
Asked to comment about the recent reports of rift within the Hurriyat, he said, “All the members of the Hurriyat are committed for the cause and there is no question of rift. There might be difference of opinion but everybody’s mission is one.”
The Hurriyat (M) Chairman told KNS that Pakistan ’s decision to grant India ‘Most Favoured Nation’ status was discussed in the meeting. “Political stability is important for economic development. If India and Pakistan talk of economic stability, for that political stability is a must,” he said.
The Mirwaiz warned that if political issues were sidelined in the dialogue process “it would have disastrous repercussions.”
“We always support constructive dialogue process between India and Pakistan. But sidelining Kashmir issue will have disastrous repercussions,” he warned.
Today’s meeting was attended by Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al Mosvi, Masroor Abass Ansari, Musadiq Adil and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza.
