Shopian: Six persons including a lady were injured after government forces fired live ammunition and pellets at the protesters in Sugan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said.
A health official at District Hospital Pulwama said that four persons injured in Shopian were brought to the hospital for treatment.
“Two were hit by bullets in their legs while two others had pellet injuries,” said the official. The duo with firearm injuries have been referred to Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, a lady was also injured after she was allegedly hit by an Army vehicle in the same village of Shopian district.
The woman, identified as Showki Jan, was shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, an official said.
He said that another youth who had been hit by a bullet in his thigh was also brought to the facility for treatment.
Earlier, witnesses said that the forces had sealed all roads to prevent a large funeral for slain Al-Badr commander Zeenat-ul-Islam at his native village, Sugan in Shopian.
They said that the forces fired live ammunition and pellets at the protesters who pelted them with stones. (GKNN)
