Kupwara: Two Army men and four militants were on Saturday killed in an encounter that erupted between the forces and militants at Marsari area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday afternoon.
Officials had said that the militants were holed up in a residential house of Ghulam Muhammad Wani, son of Ablee Wani of Marsari, Chowkibal. In the fierce gun battle, the militants were killed after an 18-hour long battle.
Brigadier SP Singh while talking to KNS said that they suspect at least four militants are dead while the identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
He said that two Army men lost their lives in the fierce gunfight while two more received injuries.
“Army personnel from 41 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 16 Garhwal and the police’s special operation group were part of the ongoing operation,” he said, adding that no civilian received injuries during the gunfight.
