Stray dogs on prowl as 25 bitten in Bandipora

BANDIPORA — As many as 25 people mostly children, and women were injured after they were attacked by stray dogs in north Kashmir’s Bandipora village, creating panic in the village.

Locals said that a group of stray dogs appeared in Kulhama, Nadihal, Gundpora villages of Bandipora and attacked two dozen people including minors and three women since past two days. They added that the canines have spread a reign of terror among villagers.

However, the injured were shifted to different Health Centers and were given anti-rabies vaccine (ARV), an official said, adding that one of them was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.

“We have information that around 25 people including children were injured in Bandipora,” Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) Bandipora, Tajamul Hussain said.

He futher said that free anti-rabies injection were given to injured persons initially and will be assisted in future course as well.

Meanwhile, residents appealed administration to deal with the canines which, they said, had endangered their lives.
