Srinagar: The Ministry of Minority Affairs Scholarship Scheme 2017 has been announced and can be applied for by the candidates from Minority Community for the Session 2017.
Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme: “The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education. The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education, which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio-economic conditions of the minority communities,” Ministry of Minority Affairs website reads.
The scholarships will be given on the following pattern:
1st to 5th Standard: Rs. 1,000 (Annual)
6th to 10th Standard: Rs. 5,000 (Annual)
However, the Income Limit has been set at Rs. 1 Lakh.
The Last Date of applying for this scholarship is 31st September, 2017.
Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme: “The Prime Minister’s New 15 Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities was announced in June, 2006. It provides that a post-matric scholarship scheme for meritorious students from minority communities would be implemented. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability,” reads Ministry of Minority Affairs website.
11th & 12th Standard: Rs. 9,000 (Annual)
Under Graduate Students: Rs. 6,000 (Annual)
However, the Income Limit has been set at Rs. 2 Lakh.
The Last Date of applying for this scholarship is 31st October, 2017.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme: “The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses. These scholarships are available for studies in India only and will be awarded through State Government/UT Administration or an Agency designated by the State Government/UT Administration for this purpose,” Ministry of Minority Affairs website reads.
Professional & Technical Courses: Rs. 25,000 (Annual)
However, the Income Limit has been set at Rs. 2.5 Lakh.
The Last Date of applying for this scholarship is 31st October, 2017.
The interested and eligible students can apply for Ministry of Minority Affairs Scholarship Scheme 2017 online from the National Scholarship Portal.
After submitting the Ministry of Minority Affairs Scholarship Scheme 2017 application online, take a print-out of the application & submit it in your School / College / Institution.

● Photo with Signature
● Previous Year’s Marks Sheet
● Residential Proof
● Self Declaration of Income Proof
● Self Declaration of Religion Certificate
● Bank Passbook Xerox with IFSC Number
