A militant has been killed and a CRPF personnel injured in a gunfight between militants and government forces in Malabagh area of central Kashmir's Srinagar district.

A day after 65-year-old Bashir Ahmad Khan was killed in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, an activist on Thursday moved the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for an impartial probe into it.

Family members of the civilian man who was killed during a militant attack on a CRPF party in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district yesterday, asked police to come out with substantial evidence as to whose bullet killed their father.

Those who were responsible for the killing of a civilian and a CRPF head constable in Kashmir have to be made to account for it, according to the spokesperson for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range), Vijay Kumar today said that Lashkar-e-Taiba militants who were hiding in a mosque carried out the attack at a CRPF naka party at model town Sopore that led to the death of a CRPF man and a civilian while a minor boy was rescued.

The Srinagar family of slain civilian, who was killed after militants attacked CRPF in Sopore on Wednesday, accused Paramilitary troopers of killing the elderly man.

Khan, being a contractor, was heading towards the construction site in Sopore but little did he knew that he will not return home alive.
