SRINAGAR — National Conference (NC) today carried out a protest demonstration in various parts of the valley against ‘attempts’ to scrap Article 35-A and 370.

The protesters marched from NC party quarters towards main market amid raising slogans in favour of 35A, holding placards assembled outside the DDC complex Kupwara.

The protest was led by NC MLC Qaiser Jamsheed Lone who cautioned the central as well as the state government about tampering with Article 35-A, asking them to clear their stand. He said that the prevailing situation across the state is disturbed due to the doubted situation created by Central and state government,and added that people at the helm have created chaos among the masses.

In Pulwama, party leaders including Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri and Mohideen Mir along with the party workers carried out the demonstration.

The protestors also demanded revocation of ban on Jamaat-e-Islami. They said that the schools and other institutions run by Jamaat-e-Islami should be allowed to run.

They said that Governor Satya Pal Malik should not take such decisions which come under the domain of an elected government.
