Pulwama: A chilling video of Drabgam gunfight has emerged, showing how the Hizbul Mujahideen militant Sameer Tiger was killed after security forces caught him trapped in a single-storey house along with his associate.

Earlier this week, Sameer Tiger, one of the top militants of Hizbul Mujahideen, was killed in an encounter in Drabgam village of Pulwama district.

The exclusive video shows the last moments of the intense encounter wherein government forces are going for the final assault on militant Sameer Tiger, whose real name is Sameer Ahmad Bhat.

In the chilling footage, security forces can be seen sprinkling gasoline on the house in which Sameer Tiger and his accomplice were hiding. The video shows that as the house catches fire, Sameer tries to flee the scene by opening fire at the security personnel. However, the sharpshooters of the forces shoot him down.

Sameer, who reportedly became a militant in 2016, is said to have been the mastermind of several political killings in the Valley. Security forces have described his elimination as a major victory.

Describing the sequence of events that led to the encounter, an official spokesperson said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had formed a joint team to conduct searches at Drabgam village. However, the security personnel were attacked with a volley of bullets just as they were about to begin their search of the house where the militants were hiding. The forces retaliated, and during the course of the encounter, neutralised two militants, identified as Sameer Tiger, Aqib and Mushtaq Khan, a local from Pulwama.
