PULWAMA — District Administration Pulwama in association with Youth Services and Sports Department Pulwama organized a Snow Cricket Tournament and a Snow Run for the first time in CB Nath Argichek village of the south Kashmir district.

On the occasion, a good number of young boys participated in the tournament and especially showed enthusiasm for the cricket tournament.

Snow cricket an initiative to carve out new sports activities

Speaking to The Kashmir Pulse, District Sports Officer Noor-ul-Haq said that the department was organizing these games to provide new opportunities to the youth amidst snowfall.

“Due to snow and cold weather, the youth remain mostly within their houses and away from sports activities, which results in depressing conditions and other related problems. Therefore, this is an initiative to carve out new sports activities in the winter,” the official said.

Argicheck villagers demand cricket ground, declaring tourist spot

Meanwhile, locals in the Argichek village said they have been requesting the officials for the development of the area, but their pleas fell on deaf ears.

“We want the development of a cricket ground in Musarmarg and the area to be declared a tourist destination,” the aggrieved locals said.
