Srinagar: University of Kashmir has issued the Admission Notification (CBCS Scheme) for Under-Graduate 1st Semester 2017.

The notification issued in this regard titled “Admission Notification (Under Choice Based Credit System Semester Scheme) for Under-Graduate 1st Semester of 2017” reads the following.

It is notified for information of all the concerned that the Registration Forms for admission to 1st Semester under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme of B.A / B.Sc / B.Com / B.C.A / B.B.A / B.M.M.M.C (MCMP) in the affiliated Colleges of the University shall be available on the University website www.kashmiruniversity.net from 17th of March 2017 to 29th of March 2017.

The colleges shall complete all the admission formalities within one week from the closure of the Registration of students. However, the colleges offering courses with restricted intake capacity shall be entitled to avail 3 days more to complete the admission formalities of the students who fail to secure admission in such courses. The required formalities for admission are as under:

i. The candidates who have passed their 10+2 class examination in full shall be eligible for admission to the course. However, for B.Com. (General) Programme (for students with non-commerce background), B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com (Honours) Programme and BCA / BBA / BMMMC candidates having secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate in case of open merit and 40% marks in aggregate in case of reserved categories shall be eligible for admission.

ii. Forms shall be generated on the basis of J&K Board Registration Number only. In case, candidate’s Registration Number is not available on the University Website, he/she shall have to visit the University Information Center of the College, where he/she intends to seek admission.

iii. Candidates, who have already appeared or are still appearing in 10+2 Examination of JKBOSE or any other Board including CBSE, or have applied for Re-evaluation or are appearing in 2nd phase of 10+2 Examination (batch 2016) and the final result is still awaited, can also submit the online Registration Form through the concerned University Information Center of the College.

However, such candidates shall have to pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 100/- instead of Full Admission Fee in the College concerned and also submit an affidavit duly sworn in before the Judicial Magistrate (1st class) to the effect that he/she is seeking provisional admission in the College on his/her own risk and responsibility and in case he/she fails to attain the required eligibility after the declaration of the qualifying examination result / re-evaluation result, his/her admission shall automatically stand cancelled.

The candidates who attain the eligibility after the declaration of the result shall have to submit the required certificates along-with the Admission & Examination fee for first two semesters through J&K Bank, after obtaining the bank pay in slip from the concerned College within 10 working days after attaining the eligibility.

iv. The candidates who are already Registered with the University either in Private or Regular capacity but could not appeared in the Examination and are interested to seek fresh admission under stream / subject change category are eligible for re-admission.

However, such candidates shall be exempt from payment of University Registration fee of Rs 200/- or 500/- for Academic / Professional courses respectively, as the case may be.

v. The candidates shall have to submit Registration Form only once at the time of Admission. The said Form will be based on Board Registration Number and shall be available on the University website, along with the instructions.

vi. The Prescribed Registration, Admission and Examination Fee for first two Semesters alongwith the requisite set of certificates, as mentioned in the Admission Notification, is to be submitted with the Registration Form in the College concerned.

However, as per statutes specially-abled and orphan students, as evidenced by the requisite certificates from the concerned competent authorities, are exempt from payment of examination fee.

vii. Candidate can choose any subject combination (specific to a Programme) offered by the concerned College in tune with the UG CBCS scheme, for the session 2017 and onwards, of the University of Kashmir.

viii. It shall be incumbent upon all the candidates admitted to a College, whether on provisional basis or other-wise, to attend classes regularly as their attendance for eligibility to appear in the Semester-end examination shall be counted with effect from the date of inception of class work.

ix. The College, making use of the UID No. printed on the Registration Form shall upload the name of the College and the Subject Combination of the Candidate on the University website, needless to mention here is that the colleges shall be provided access to generate / download reports regarding the students admitted in the respective colleges.

For this purpose the colleges shall ensure to download the latest combination lists for the current session from the University website.

x. Candidates will not have to submit any examination form during the Academic Programme.

However, prescribed examination fee shall have to be paid at the time of admission to odd semesters. Permission to appear in examination/s will be subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria (details available in UGCBCS).

xi. Class work for each semester shall be of a minimum of 16 weeks. Examination notification / date sheet will be issued separately.

In view of the carry on system the class work for all the subsequent semesters shall start immediately after completion of examination of the previous semester.

xii. The selection of candidates for admission to B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com (General / Honors) / BCA / BBA / BMMMC (MCMP) Programme shall be based either on the merit obtained at the 10+2 level examination or the written test conducted by the College for different courses as decided by the College concerned.

Provided that preference for admission to the Honors Programme/s of B.A. / B. Sc. / B.Com in any Subject/s shall be given to the students who have passed the qualifying examination with the same subject/s at the 10+2 level.

xiii. However, the Private affiliated College Principals need to Contact the Dean College Development Council for Admission to BBA / BCA / BMMMC Programmes.

Principals of all the affiliated Colleges shall forward Registration Return along-with the prescribed fee (details given below) to the office of the undersigned within 20 days after closure of admission.

Examination Fee

All the Bank drafts should be pledged to the Registrar, University of Kashmir except EMF which should be pledged to the Controller of Examinations.

The Registration Return should be supported with the following documents of the candidates:

i. Copy of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate attested by the Principal or the authorized Officer of the College concerned; Original to be retained by the College.

ii. Self-attested photocopy of Character Certificate issued by the institution, last attended.

iii. Self-attested photocopy of Secondary School Examination (10th Class);

iv. Self-attested photocopy of Higher Secondary School Examination Part II (12th Class);

v. Migration certificate (where-ever applicable);

The eligibility of the pass out candidates of 12th class other than J&K Board of School Education, shall be determined subject to the submission of Original Migration certificate(s) from respective institutions and equivalence certificate of 12th class from J&K Board of School Education.

The College Principals shall accordingly check the status of the Board(s) prior to their admission to the course in the respective Colleges.

The Principals shall ensure that admission / classification is made strictly in accordance with the revised combination of subjects under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme for the session 2017, available on University website.
