SRINAGAR — The Directorate of School Education in Kashmir has released the uniform date sheet for summative assessments for students studying in classes 1st to 9th across all government and private schools in the Kashmir division.
According to the news agency ANB, the notification marks the first assessment under the revised academic calendar, which the Jammu & Kashmir Government recently shifted back to a traditional November session from the previous March schedule.
According to the issued schedule, the exams will commence on November 25, 2024 and conclude on December 6, 2024.
The assessments will be conducted between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm each day, covering subjects like English, Hindi/Urdu, Kashmiri, Mathematics, Science, Environmental Studies (EVS) and Social Studies, depending on the grade level.
In addition to the dates, the Directorate has provided instructions to schools, emphasizing that assessments should align with updated competencies, curricular goals and learning outcomes as part of a holistic evaluation approach.
Schools have also been directed to arrange for smooth examination conduct and ensure timely paper evaluations, with results expected to be declared by or before December 15, 2024.
The date sheet has been distributed to relevant educational authorities and officials, including the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department J&K, JKBOSE and other key officers, ensuring wide dissemination and compliance.
Director School Education assures students-friendly exams
In a reassuring message, Director School Education, Dr Tasaduq Hussain, has advised students to stay calm and focused as exams approach. “Exams will be children-friendly,” he emphasized, highlighting that teachers will set exam papers based on what they have taught, making the assessment process fair and stress-free.
Director Education told reporters in Srinagar that exams up to Class 9th are scheduled to begin in mid-November and conclude before December 15. Following this, students will join new classes starting December 20.
