Army soldier injured as gunfight erupts in Charar-i-Sharief

SRINAGAR — An Army trooper was injured in an ongoing gunfight in Charar-i-Sharief area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources said that an Army soldier was injured in the ongoing encounter and shifted to 92 Base hospital for specialized treatment.

Earlier, according to the reports reaching here, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Charar-i-Sharief.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
