SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday registered a case against a High Court Advocate for engaging in a scuffle with a Session Judge at a local court in Handwara in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to reports, a heated argument was witnessed between a Session Judge and a High Court Advocate this afternoon at a local court in Handwara, which led to a scuffle.
Sources said that after a minor scuffle, employees and other Advocates rushed to the spot and called in police for intervention. It was not immediately known as to why both entered into the argument which led to the scuffle, sources said.
A top police official said that they have taken cognizance of the incident and have registered a case under FIR number 35/2020 under section 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code against the Advocate.
The official identified the accused mentioned in the FIR as Javed Iqbal Wani, a resident of Chadoora Budgam in central Kashmir.
