Accused girl Asifa Bashir of Parimpora arrested by J&K Police

SRINAGAR — A girl allegedly stabbed her fiance with a knife in Srinagar on Tuesday, police said. The girl was arrested by the police and was booked on the charges of attempt to murder.

Police said Adil Ahmad Kaloo of Bemina Srinagar was stabbed by knife by his fiancee Asifa Bashir of Parimpora in broad daylight in Chattabal area of the city. The injured was shifted to hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

A case was registered in Police Station Safakadal under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The girl was later arrested by police.

“The lady was engaged to the victim and Nikah had also taken place,” a police statement said.

Police said prima facie, it appears that the stabbing was the result of an altercation arising due to the objection of the victim regarding her job. “As per initial reports, the victim reached the place where the accused was recording a video report. There was a tussle and the woman stabbed the victim,” the police spokesman said, adding further investigation is on.
