SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Srinagar on Thursday expressed anguish and concern over the deteriorating health condition of its incarcerated president Mian Abdul Qayoom, who as per the family sources suffered cardiac arrest on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, JKHCBA held an extra ordinary General-Body meeting today, which was presided over by the Vice President of the Association.
“The immediate cause for holding the meeting was deteriorating health of the President of Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate, who continues to be under detention in Central Jail Agra. Reportedly, he has been shifted to a local hospital for treatment where the facilities are inadequate,” a statement issued from JKHCBA reads.
It reads that all the members of the Association, who were present in the meeting, expressed their anguish and worry about his health.
“Many members of the Association spoke during the meeting and put forth their suggestions. Realizing that the members were agitating and were forceful in their statements as to how their President is being dealt with, it was considered appropriate that in view of the case relating to the release of the President, is to come up tomorrow i.e., 31st of January, 2020 before the Court for final hearing, to defer the implementation of the suggestions,” it added.
“The members of the Association were urged to wait till the hearing of the case takes place. It was also decided that in the event the case is not heard for any reason whatsoever, another meeting will be held immediately thereafter and the decision of the Bar Association notified for general information,” JKHCBA said.
