Kashmir Floods: Iran expresses sympathy, offers aid

Tehran: Iran Thursday said it is ready to send aid to people affected by the deadly floods in Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham expressed sympathy with people who lost their relatives in the flooding, noting that the Islamic Republic is prepared to provide aid and medical supplies and relief teams to food-hit areas in the region.
The catastrophic floods, worst in more than a century, have wreaked havoc in the Himalayan region, resulting in huge loss of life and property.
On September 21, an Iranian delegation visited the flood-hit Kashmir to assess the situation and provide support to the people in the disaster zone.
The delegation met the affected people and expressed support for the stricken region.
The team was shocked at the level of damage inflicted by the devastating floods.
