Minor injured after hit by Army vehicle in Qazigund

QAZIGUND — A 4-year-old boy was injured by an Army vehicle at Wuzur area of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning. Following the incident, massive protest erupted in the area against Army.

Reports reaching here identified the injured as Muzamil Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Hassan Wagay, a resident of Wuzur Qazigund.

Witnesses said that the vehicle, part of a convoy, hit the youth on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and fled away.

“However, angry youths managed to stop other vehicles and demand the arrest of the erring driver,” an eyewitness said. The youth assembled on highway and staged a protest which brought the the traffic on the busy highway to a standstill.

Police sources confirmed the incident and said that the matter was resolved in consultation with public.
