SRINAGAR — A 37-year old activist of People’s Conference was injured critically after he fell from a moving vehicle near Bakhihaker in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports reaching here said that the man Mushtaq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Bhawan Watser, Rajwar suddenly fell off from a load-carrier vehicle near Bakhihaker.

The mishap occurred when the load carrier, part of the calvalcade, was heading towards Handwara for a public gathering campaign by PC Chairman Sajad Gani Lone.

In the incident, Mir suffered critical injuries and was immediately taken to district hospital Handwara in unconscious state.

A doctor who operated upon the injured said that the condition of Mir is serious.

After being treated upon, Mir was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

A police officer confirmed the incident and said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered.

The officer said that they have taken cognizance of the incident and it is being investigated that under what circumstances the mishap took place.
