PULWAMA — The inordinate delay by the Roads and Buildings Department to undertake the up-gradation and maintenance of Prichoo to Washbugh road in district Pulwama, which is in the extremely dilapidated condition is taking a heavy toll on commuters.

Locals accused officials of not paying any kind of attention to this vital road which connects dozens of villages and can make the road accessible for the smooth traffic in the district.

“Various times we have approached the concerned departments by representations, but they are only passing the buck and are playing dilly-dallying tactics,” the aggrieved residents said.

According to the delegation, they praise the administration for their commendable steps to deal with the situation of traffic jams in the district mainly in Pulwama town. However, these facilities will only be successful if the district administration will widen the road from Prichoo to Washbugh.

The angry locals of Prichoo, Malikpora, Washbugh and Dangarpora of the town accused the Roads and Buildings Department of having failed to carry out the necessary widening and repairing of roads.

Locals are now demanding the intervention of Deputy Commission Pulwama to take into account the hardships faced by the locals.
