BARAMULLA — The Indian Army on Friday said that they successfully neutralized two militants in a joint operation with police and CRPF in Panipura village of Baramulla district.
Army said that the operation began on Thursday late evening after receiving specific intelligence about two suspected militants hiding in Panipura. The security forces swiftly cordoned off the village, noticing suspicious movements, which led to an exchange of fire.
Army said that the militants attempted to take cover behind nearby houses, but security personnel carefully retaliated while prioritizing local residents’ safety.
Commander Deepak Mohan of the Army’s Kilo Force briefed the media, stating that the operation progressed with residents being evacuated as a precautionary measure.
As per the Commander, quadcopter surveillance allowed the forces to monitor militants’ movement and respond with precision and control. “The confrontation continued into the early hours of Friday, ultimately resulting in the neutralization of both militants,” he said.
The Commander added that the identification of the slain militants is being ascertained, with preliminary information indicating affiliation with a militant group active in northern Kashmir.
“Recently, the Indian Army and JKP have conducted several successful operations, neutralizing multiple militants across Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
